ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION:

In Greenland we will experience untouched nature. We want to preserve this nature so that future generations can experience it the same way we can.

Greenland is among those regions where the climatic changes of our earth have it's most visible effects. In the International Polar Year 2007/2008 we would like to increase public awareness for the global warming and it's dramatic effects. In this context we want to use our expedition to promote the use of renewable energy resources.

Solar Energy:

During our expedition we will use state of the art technology to gain solar power for our cameras and the navigation- and communication equipment. The use of solar power is an essential key to the documentation and communication of the expedition. By prooving the efficiency of solar energy we also want to promote a wider use of renewable energy sources.

Recycling:

The Arctic Summits Expedition will be conducted following the rules of "Zero-Impact" - that means we will leave no (= zero!) material or trash behind.

It starts in the planning phase where great emphasis is put on the avoidance of unnessesary trash. When putting together our expedition supplies we take care to absolutely minimize all used matreials. After all this also reduces the weight we have to carry. We will leave no form of trash or other material in Greenland. Organic waste will be properly disposed in Iceland and all recycling material will be brought back to Germany.

Not like that!!! Large and small expedition leftovers found in Greenland.
